Just Give Me Bubbles

You ask if I want a party hat

Honestly, I think It’s not all that

You say, what about a fancy cake?

I shrug, just get me an easy bake

You think, clowns, puppets, a magic show!

How many times must I say no?

Please don’t buy me a sparkling new dress

There is really no need for this stress

I’ll tell you one thing my heart beats for

A tub of bubbles and nothing more!

To blow pink bubbles and watch it float

Just sends giggles down my throat

A rainbow of colors in each sphere

I chase them until they disappear

It doesn’t cost much to make me grin

Blow me bubbles and watch me spin!

Happy Whisker’s Day Illustrated! Excited Much =)

fox

Remember my “Happy Whisker’s Day” poem? Well, I got another excellent artist, Red Matias, to bring my poem to life! He’s gonna come up with this super manly animal characters, contrasted by the very playful and casual dad at the end. Every time an illustration arrives, I get so excited!

In case you weren’t able to read it last time, here was the poem I wrote for Father’s Day =)

Happy Whisker’s Day!

Whiskers on a fox,

Whiskers on a cat.

Whiskers on a walrus,

Whiskers on a rat!

Stiff and white whiskers,

Black, wiry ones, too!

Have you seen catfish whiskers?

Can you guess what they do?

Whiskers on the snout

Whiskers on the cheek

Whiskers on the eyes?

Now, isn’t that neat!

Whiskers are great

But one’s above the rest

Dad’s whiskers that tickle

For me, they are the best!

Simple Joys of Summer

Plucking away at petals
Playing love me-love me not
Armed with water guns we run
Sucking on ice when it’s hot

Making faces, tongues all out
Munching on sour, green mangoes
Stomping on mud, pounding clay
Painting on our little toes

Climbing the wall of your house
A quick glimpse of your brother
Drowning in dreams and giggles
Ah, the joys of my summer!

Oh This Cat!

Cat on My Window Sill

As I sit on this window sill
Unmoving, silent, very still
Watch my blue eyes speaking
Is your heart melting?

I lick my lips and you get it
You bring out a bowl and you fill it
I purr to show satisfaction
Of our unspoken connection

Okay, so it’s my first time to make a poem about my craft. I made the cat using polymer clay, and the window sill using an empty matchbox. It’s really quite an adorable yellow cat, and it’s one of the few crafts I’ve kept with me because for some reason, I can’t bear to give it away.

It also inspired me to write the poem that accompanies it. I imagine the cat, looking oh-so-cute, using only its hypnotizing eyes to communicate its desire to drink some milk. And of course, all I can do is comply. After all, who can resist those eyes? Oh this cat!

On Grandpa’s Lap

I spy white spots on your beard
Has it always been there?
Your head’s a bit shinier
And there are gaps in your hair.

When you smile there’s a crinkle
How do I make it smooth?
And oh my, can this be true?
Do I see a missing tooth?

Heavy glasses have left marks
On both sides of your nose
There are rough parts on your hands
And even on your toes.

You tell me some things have changed
But your warm eyes disagree
Your treats, tricks, and tickle fights
For me, you’re Mr. Energy!

Underwater Ballerina

Underwater ballerina

Floating in the salty sea

Graceful tentacles reaching

But please do not sting me.

Your skirt flows with ease

Pink translucent beauty

Your every move is hypnotic

But kindly do not sting me.

Oh how I wish I could hold you

Dancing, bobbing jelly

I love you from a distance

Where you cannot sting me.

Happy Whisker’s Day!

Whiskers on a fox,

Whiskers on a cat.

Whiskers on a walrus,

Whiskers on a rat!

Stiff and white whiskers,

Black, wiry ones, too!

Have you seen catfish whiskers?

Can you guess what they do?

Whiskers on the snout

Whiskers on the cheek

Whiskers on the eyes?

Now, isn’t that neat!

Whiskers are great

But one’s above the rest

Dad’s whiskers that tickle

For me, they are the best!

I Love You to Bits

I peck your cheek,

I rub your nose

I wiggle your ears,

I tickle your toes

I smell your hair,

I sniff your arm

I kiss your eyes

So full of charm

I count your fingers

Ten in all

I cut your nails

So cute and small

I love you to bits,

I love each part

You are my gift from above

You are a work of art!
