It’s been a long time since I posted a D.I.Y. project, and it’s mostly because I’ve been concentrating on my writing. But, sometimes, a good distraction is what one needs to unclog her fantasy-filled brain, so I gave myself a five-minute craft break. Super easy and cheap, you will need ribbons, a felt flower, super glue, metal findings and a blank celphone case. Step 1: Glue the ribbons on the celphone case. Step 2: Glue the metal finding (in this case, the Eiffel Tower). Step 3: Glue the felt flower on the top of the Eiffel Tower. Step 4: Let the glue dry completely. That’s it! Cheap AND cute!

Aquarium Love
In the Kaiyukan Ocean Park in Osaka, there is a display dedicated to jellyfish. Everywhere you turn, you will see these beautiful, gelatinous animals floating in glass cases. Their movement is almost hypnotic as they open and close their bells and tentacles. And while I love watching them from the confines of an aquarium, I am definitely scared of meeting them in the open ocean. Every time somebody says jellyfish, I equate it to shark, and run out of the water as fast as I can. So my dear jellyfish, I am sorry for I can only love you when we are separated by glass.
Underwater Ballerina
Underwater ballerina
Floating in the salty sea
Graceful tentacles reaching
But please do not sting me.
Your skirt flows with ease
Pink translucent beauty
Your every move is hypnotic
But kindly do not sting me.
Oh how I wish I could hold you
Dancing, bobbing jelly
I love you from a distance
Where you cannot sting me.
Happy Father’s Day!
Yey, I finished this poem before Father’s Day! So, yeah, it’s not going to be a belated greeting =) I wrote the poem, Happy Whisker’s Day, for my husband a.k.a. Greatest Dad Ever. I wanted to write about his stubble because he always uses it to tickle my daughter before she sleeps. My daughter, in between gasps and giggles, would always tell him to stop, but I think he enjoys it just as much as she does, so he pretends not to hear her. Seeing them like that is the highlight of my day. To all the fantastic fathers out there, HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!
Happy Whisker’s Day!
Whiskers on a fox,
Whiskers on a cat.
Whiskers on a walrus,
Whiskers on a rat!
Stiff and white whiskers,
Black, wiry ones, too!
Have you seen catfish whiskers?
Can you guess what they do?
Whiskers on the snout
Whiskers on the cheek
Whiskers on the eyes?
Now, isn’t that neat!
Whiskers are great
But one’s above the rest
Dad’s whiskers that tickle
For me, they are the best!
