Aquarium Love

In the Kaiyukan Ocean Park in Osaka, there is a display dedicated to jellyfish. Everywhere you turn,  you will see these beautiful, gelatinous animals floating in glass cases. Their movement is almost hypnotic as they open and close their bells and tentacles. And while I love watching them from the confines of an aquarium, I am definitely scared of meeting them in the open ocean. Every time somebody says jellyfish, I equate it to shark, and run out of the water as fast as I can. So my dear jellyfish, I am sorry for I can only love you when we are separated by glass.

Underwater Ballerina

Underwater ballerina

Floating in the salty sea

Graceful tentacles reaching

But please do not sting me.

Your skirt flows with ease

Pink translucent beauty

Your every move is hypnotic

But kindly do not sting me.

Oh how I wish I could hold you

Dancing, bobbing jelly

I love you from a distance

Where you cannot sting me.
